The CodeCrafters Club at MacArthur High School has been a cornerstone of the computer science pathway for three years, inspiring students to pursue innovation and coding excellence. Through collaborative projects and hands-on programming experiences, CodeCrafters empowers learners to think critically, solve real-world problems, and build a strong foundation in technology.

TSA Competition: Themes and Problems

Robotics

Robotics competitors are to engineer and build an open-source or commercially available robot. Different robots may have different capabilities, but to complete all required tasks, the robot should be able to easily pick up a variety of payloads and deliver them to the designated payload drop off area and place them on various targets. Competitors are encouraged to research, design, produce, and test their robots to meet the challenges of the year.

Develop a software program that removes barriers and increases accessibility for people with vision or hearing disabilities.

Webmaster

Topic: Community Resource Hub

Create a website that will serve as a community resource hub to highlight resources available to residents within the community (e.g., non-profits, support services, community events and programs, etc.). Your website should include the following:

an interactive directory of community resources (resource hub) that allows users to search and filter the resources.
a highlight section that spotlights at least three of the community resources you have listed in your resource hub.
a form that users can submit to indicate new resources that should be added to the community resources hub.
additional content to enhance the community resource hub for end users.

Promotional Design

Create promotional materials for a chapter-hosted event in which TSA alumni return to the chapter to share career stories, run workshops, and mentor students. The promotional items must include:

an event information flyer
a social media promotional graphic
a name badge template
a promotional item of the participant’s choice

Coding

Participants take a test, which concentrates on aspects of coding, to qualify for the semifinal round of competition. Semifinalists develop a software program—in a designated amount of time—that accurately addresses an onsite problem.
